Turkey serves as textile gateway for Indonesia to reach Europe
At the Istanbul Fashion Connection event, Indonesia highlighted Turkey’s strategic role as a gateway for Far Eastern textiles to reach European, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian markets. Ndari Surjaningsih, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Indonesia, described Istanbul as one of the world’s premier centers for the garment and textile industry.
Indonesia aims to strengthen its entire value chain—including design, production, Islamic finance, and digitalization—to become a leader in the global modest fashion ecosystem. The collaboration seeks to foster concrete steps in trade, investment, human resource development, and designer exchanges between the two nations.
During the event, prominent Indonesian designers, including Febry Ferry Fabry, Boolao, Nissa Khoirina, Dama Kara, and EiwaveSofie, showcased collections that blend traditional Indonesian Wastra fabric culture with modern conservative fashion. The runway shows featured Turkish models and emphasized Indonesia’s goal of utilizing Turkey’s production and distribution networks to access broader international markets.
