Turkey signs additional contracts for HISAR-A and HISAR-O air‑defence systems

Turkey’s Defence Industry Authority announced that additional serial‑production contracts for the HISAR‑A and HISAR‑O short‑range air‑defence systems have been concluded with domestic firms ASELSAN and ROKETSAN. The agreements, approved by the Defence Industry Executive Committee on 18 February 2026, are part of the “Steel Dome” (Çelik Küpbe) vision to strengthen a multilayered air‑defence architecture and meet NATO commitments.

The contracts are valued at roughly €1.47 billion and aim to expand Turkey’s indigenous production capacity. Officials highlighted the country’s defence ecosystem – more than 4 000 companies and a workforce of about 100 000 engineers and technicians under the age of 34 – as a key driver of self‑sufficiency and economic benefit.

Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, head of the Defence Industry Authority, said the new agreements reinforce Turkey’s ability to field advanced capabilities and keep resources, jobs and industrial know‑how within the national economy.
