Turkey strengthens defense industry through R&D and industrial cooperation

Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defence Industries, met with Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, to discuss strengthening cooperation in the defense sector. The discussions focused on transitioning technologies from laboratories to the field through robust R&D infrastructure, investment tools, and sustainable production capacity.

Görgün highlighted ongoing collaborative projects with TÜBİTAK SAGE, BİLGEM, MAM, and UME in areas such as navigation, radar, communications, advanced materials, and atomic clocks. He noted that the Ministry of Industry and Technology provides critical project-based investment incentives that assist defense companies like ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, HAVELSAN, and MKE in scaling up production and enhancing technological capabilities.

Separately, Minister Yaşar Güler emphasized Turkey's growing international influence driven by effective diplomacy and a developing domestic defense industry. He noted that the country's military capabilities and recent defense agreements, such as the one signed in Mecca, demonstrate Turkey's role as a significant actor in regional and international security.
