Turkey successfully tests Tayfun ballistic missile
Turkey has successfully conducted another test launch of the Tayfun ballistic missile from the Rize-Artvin Airport on October 1, 2026. Coordinated by ROKETSAN and the Defense Industry Presidency, the test marks a continued effort to enhance the nation's regional and global deterrence capabilities through domestic missile technology.
ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci announced that mass production for the Tayfun Block 3 has already begun while testing remains ongoing. He expects both Block 2 and Block 3 to enter the military inventory within the year. The Block 3 variant features an integrated seeker head capable of locating and destroying moving targets at sea.
This development follows a series of successful tests for the Tayfun system, including previous launches in October 2022, May 2023, and February 2025. The project aims to reduce foreign dependency by positioning Turkey among the limited number of countries capable of developing and producing long-range ballistic missiles.
