Turkey supermarket complaints surge by 85 percent in one week
Complaints against national supermarket chains in Turkey increased by 85 percent in a single week, rising from 420 to 778 according to data from the consumer platform Şikayetvar. During the same period, complaints regarding discount market chains saw a 9 percent increase, rising from 818 to 894.
Key issues reported by consumers include the cancellation of online orders due to stock shortages despite active promotional campaigns, incomplete deliveries, and difficulties obtaining refunds. Consumers also highlighted discrepancies between shelf prices and checkout prices.
Specific grievances focused on 'buy one get one free' or 'two for one' deals, where orders were reportedly cancelled after payment, causing customers to miss out on significant price advantages. In some instances, customers reported that products marked as delivered in virtual markets never actually reached them.
