Turkey targets electric commercial vehicle production hub

Turkey is positioning itself as a production hub for electric commercial vehicles through a new partnership between SANY and FMT. The project launched with an initial investment of $50 million, with plans to expand total investment to $500 million within five years.

The integrated production and operations center, located in the Ankara ASO 2nd Organized Industrial Zone, covers approximately 26,000 square meters. The facility will handle manufacturing, assembly, servicing, spare parts, and technical support.

Field tests conducted by FMT indicate that electric trucks can reduce energy costs by over 80% compared to diesel vehicles. The SANY E636 model, which features a 636 kWh battery capacity, offers a range of between 450 and 600 kilometers depending on usage conditions.
