Turkey targets increased natural gas production in Black Sea

Turkey's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alpaslan Bayraktar, announced that the discovery of 785 billion cubic meters of natural gas in the Black Sea has fundamentally altered the country's domestic production outlook. Current production at the Sakarya Gas Field has reached approximately 10 million cubic meters per day.

The government aims to double this output by the end of the year and intends to reach 45 million cubic meters per day by 2028. Turkey currently meets 30% of its total energy needs through domestic resources, with a long-term goal of exceeding 50% by 2035.

To support these objectives, Turkey has developed one of the world's four largest energy fleets, consisting of six deep-sea drilling vessels, two seismic research vessels, and various support ships. The Osman Gazi production, storage, and evacuation platform serves as a major hub for these operations.
