Turkey telecommunications sector sees 218 million number portabilities

Turkey's telecommunications sector has reached significant milestones, according to data released by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu. Total number portability in the country has surpassed 218 million, with 215.4 million being mobile numbers and approximately 2.8 million being fixed lines. In the first quarter of the year alone, 3.5 million numbers were transferred between operators.

Mobile subscriber numbers have reached 86 million, resulting in a mobile penetration rate of 100.3% relative to the population. The sector's net sales revenue has reached 179.7 billion lira, with total investments approaching 263 billion lira. There are currently 416 operators active in the electronic communications sector.

5G technology adoption is growing rapidly. Since its launch on mobile networks on April 1, the number of 5G subscribers has risen from 21 million on the first day to 44.5 million within approximately four months, meaning more than half of the Turkish population now uses 5G. Additionally, Turkey maintains its leadership in Europe for mobile phone usage duration, with an average monthly mobile call time of 439 minutes per subscriber. Fiber infrastructure has also expanded to a total length of 365,000 kilometers in the first half of the year.
