Turkey to enforce new e‑commerce, influencer and AI advertising rules in August 2026
Turkey’s Ministry of Trade has issued a regulation that will take effect on 1 August 2026, overhauling rules for e‑commerce, digital advertising, influencer collaborations, consumer reviews, environmental claims and AI‑generated ads. The law mandates that discount pricing must be based on the lowest price recorded in the ten days before a promotion, preventing price‑inflation tactics. Companies must verify that consumer evaluations posted on platforms reflect genuine purchase experiences and disclose how reviews are ranked. Influencers are required to clearly state paid partnerships, and hidden advertising will be penalised. AI‑created visual, audio or video ads must not mislead consumers, and any environmental claims such as “carbon‑neutral” must be backed by current scientific evidence. The regulation aims to protect shoppers, increase transparency and curb deceptive marketing practices across online sales channels.
