Turkey to implement smart industrial clustering and regional specialization

Turkey is moving toward a development model centered on smart industrial organization and regional specialization. Bedri Yalçın emphasized that Organized Industrial Zones (OSBs) and Small Industrial Sites are critical to the nation's production infrastructure. The strategy aims to increase production capacity by strengthening technology use, infrastructure, and inter-firm cooperation through sectoral clustering.

Under this plan, specific regions will focus on strategic sectors: Ankara and Eskişehir for defense and aviation; Bursa, Kocaeli, Sakarya, and Izmir for automotive; Adana, Afyonkarahisar, and Konya for food and agriculture; and Bursa, Kahramanmaraş, Denizli, Malatya, and Istanbul for textiles. The initiative also includes developing laboratory infrastructure for waste management and food technologies, as well as establishing regional academies to protect geographical products.

In Van, Memet Aslan, Chairman of the Van Organized Industrial Zone, highlighted the importance of the zone as a driver for local investment and employment. Discussions regarding the region's economic potential included the need for solidarity between public institutions and the business community, as well as the impact of new credit packages from the Ministry of Industry and Technology designed to facilitate financing for industrialists.
