Turkey to mandate SRC Courier Certificates for motorcycle couriers

The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is implementing a new regulation requiring motorcycle couriers delivering food, groceries, and documents to obtain an SRC Courier Certificate. The mandate aims to formalize the sector, establish professional standards, and enhance traffic safety.

While the regulation is set to take effect on January 1, 2027, industry representatives have raised concerns regarding the implementation process. Ramazan Akpınar, President of the Ankara Courier Tradesmen Chamber, noted that the cost of obtaining the certificate can reach between 10,000 and 20,000 Turkish Liras. Additionally, the training requires a six-day commitment.

Industry leaders have expressed opposition to the high costs and the current training structure, suggesting that public education centers could provide the necessary training instead. A lawsuit has been filed with the Council of State seeking to annul the regulation.
