Turkey to impose double hike on gasoline and diesel prices

Effective 17 July 2026, Turkey will raise pump prices for both gasoline and diesel. The litre price of gasoline is set to increase by about 1 TL, while diesel (motorin) will rise by 3.90 TL. This follows an earlier 1.55 TL increase to gasoline that took effect on 15 July.

The hikes are driven by a surge in global oil prices – Brent crude rose after renewed US‑Iran tensions and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz – and by a halt to Russian diesel exports. Sector sources expect the new retail prices to reach roughly 65.5 TL per litre for gasoline and 73.9 TL for diesel in Istanbul, with similar levels in Ankara and Izmir and higher rates in eastern provinces.

Analysts warn the added cost will strain drivers, public transport, logistics and other fuel‑dependent sectors. Journalist Olcay Aydilek quoted sector sources: “Akaryakıt zamları hız kesmiyor. Cuma gününden geçerli motorine 3,90 TL, benzine 1 TL düzeyinde zam bekleniyor.” The price tables are scheduled to be updated on Friday, prompting motorists to anticipate higher fuel expenses.
