Turkey to reform social assistance via GETAD system

Turkey is preparing to restructure its social assistance system through the Income Complementary Family Support System (GETAD). Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek announced that the new model aims to transition from current methods to a more inclusive, family-oriented structure designed to guarantee a minimum income per person.

A key component of this reform is the Socioeconomic Risk Information System (SERBİS), which will be used to assess the socioeconomic status of individuals and households to determine eligibility for aid through scoring.

To improve accessibility and oversight, the government plans to launch the Family Card mobile application, allowing citizens to track social supports digitally. Additionally, a new Monitoring Center will be established to plan and track field visits to households meeting specific criteria to ensure the effectiveness of the aid.
