Turkey traffic regulations and speed limit clarifications

The Yozgat Governor's Office has issued an advisory to drivers regarding the critical importance of following traffic signs to ensure road safety. The announcement emphasizes that adhering to speed limits and stop signs is essential not only for the driver's own safety but also for the protection of others on the road.

Regarding recent inquiries about potential speed limit reductions in Turkey, current regulations remain unchanged. While some international regions, such as certain routes in the United Arab Emirates, have implemented lower limits, there has been no such 20-kilometer reduction in Turkey.

In Turkey, maximum speed limits for automobiles depend on the management model of the highway. On motorways operated by the General Directorate of Highways (KGM), the limit is 130 km/h, while on highways operated under the Build-Operate-Transfer (YİD) model, the limit can reach up to 140 km/h. Drivers are advised to follow specific road signs and official guidance from authorized institutions.
