Current traffic speed limits in Turkey vary based on vehicle type and road characteristics. For automobiles, the general speed limit within residential areas is 50 km/h. On intercity two-way roads, the limit is 90 km/h, while on divided roads, it increases to 110 km/h.

On highways managed by the General Directorate of Highways (KGM), the limit for automobiles is generally 130 km/h. However, on certain Build-Operate-Transfer (YİD) highways, such as the Northern Marmara, Gebze-Izmir, Menemen-Çandarlı, and Ankara-Niğde routes, the maximum speed limit is 140 km/h. The Çeşme-Izmir-Aydın highway maintains a limit of 130 km/h for automobiles.

Speed limits are not uniform for all vehicles; minibuses, buses, trucks, and motorcycles are subject to different regulations. Drivers are advised to always follow the specific traffic signs posted on the road, as these indicate the definitive legal limit for that specific stretch of road.
