Turkey U19 football team begins training camp ahead of new season
The Turkey under‑19 national football team started its preparation camp on 3 August under head coach Uğur İnceman. The squad, featuring goalkeepers Kuzey Sapaz (Fenerbahçe) and Efe Yiğit Üstün (Samsunspor), a defensive line with players from clubs such as Adanaspor, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray and others, and a midfield and attack drawn from Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, Göztepe, Trabzonspor and additional clubs, will be evaluated throughout the camp to determine selections for the upcoming season.
Commentators note that the U19 level is a critical transition point in Turkish football, warning that many young talents fail to secure regular senior‑team minutes due to short‑term club pressures and financial constraints. Proposals include mandatory playing time for U19 graduates, financial incentives tied to youth development, and systematic psychological and performance coaching to improve the pathway from youth to senior football.
