Turkey university admission advisors urge students to prioritize goals over test scores

Kadir Has University released guidance for prospective students, stressing that university choices should be based on personal interests, career aspirations, and the institution's facilities—such as curricula, faculty, labs, internship opportunities, scholarships, campus life and international exchange programs—rather than solely on exam scores. The university also advised candidates to visit campuses, attend information days and avoid leaving decisions to the last minute.

Psychologist Sudenur Yiğit offered similar counsel, warning against relying on hearsay or selecting programs only because they are popular. She recommended thorough research of university offerings, including internships, Erasmus, double majors, accreditation and faculty quality, as well as evaluating city living conditions, housing and costs. Yiğit highlighted the importance of using past success rankings over raw scores, balancing risky high‑aim choices with safer guaranteed options, and considering future job prospects, including concerns about artificial‑intelligence‑related fields.
