Turkey updates regulations for dangerous and perishable goods transport

The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has implemented significant regulatory changes regarding the transport of dangerous goods and perishable food items by road.

Under the new regulations for dangerous goods, drivers must carry a valid SRC5 training certificate appropriate to the load class and transport model. Additionally, transport companies are required to maintain a safety information form, available in either printed or digital format, to allow authorities to identify cargo contents during roadside inspections. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in administrative fines ranging from 564 TL to 63,802 TL.

Separately, new rules for the transport of perishable food items have increased penalties for non-compliance. Administrative fines for violations related to ATP Operating Authorization holders and specialized equipment used for temperature-controlled goods—such as meat, dairy, and frozen foods—have risen from 2,000 TL to 12,758 TL. These updates aim to enhance safety and ensure the integrity of the cold chain during transit.
