Turkey uses Bayraktar drones for early wildfire detection
Turkey is increasingly utilizing its Bayraktar military drones to combat wildfires by detecting them at their earliest stages. This summer, the country has deployed 14 drones to monitor its coastlines, operating 24 hours a day at an altitude of 5,000 meters.
Mustafa Ülküdür, the director of the forest department in the Mugla region, noted that the drones use thermal imaging to identify heat sources before smoke becomes visible to the human eye. The technology is highly sensitive, capable of detecting heat from sources as small as a lit cigarette butt. This capability allows authorities to mobilize firefighting operations much faster than traditional methods, helping to prevent large-scale catastrophes in the Mediterranean region.
