Turkey-Uzbekistan Business Forum in Tashkent Highlights $8.2 bn Turkish Investments
Turkey’s Trade Minister Ömer Bolat and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Cemşid Kuçkarov opened the Turkey‑Uzbekistan Business Forum as part of the 5th International Tashkent Investment Forum. The event gathered Turkish and Uzbek business leaders, ambassadors and members of the Turkey‑Uzbekistan Business Council.
Bolat emphasized the rapid growth of economic ties, noting that Turkish investment in Uzbekistan has reached $8.2 billion and that Turkey will be the third‑largest investor in the country in 2024‑2025. More than 2,200 Turkish‑owned companies now operate in Uzbekistan across energy, health, agriculture, logistics and other sectors. Bilateral trade last year totaled $3.1 billion, with short‑term targets of $5 billion and medium‑term goals of $10 billion. Negotiations to expand a preferential trade agreement are ongoing.
Bolat also pointed to Turkey’s broader investment appeal, citing over $290 billion of foreign direct investment attracted since 2003 and the presence of roughly 89,000 international companies in Turkey. He highlighted the country’s role as a hub for production, technology, renewable energy and digital infrastructure, positioning it as a reliable partner for future projects in the region.
