ASELSAN and Türk Telekom to launch domestic smartphones in 2027
ASELSAN, Türk Telekom, and TTT İnovasyon are collaborating to develop Türkiye’s first domestic smartphones, with the first three models expected to launch in the first quarter of 2027. The project, which has been in development for approximately three years, aims to reduce the country's dependence on foreign communication technologies.
The planned lineup includes three distinct versions: a high-end encrypted model specifically for public employees and government use, an affordable model for the general public, and a premium version with advanced hardware. A key technical feature across all models will be integrated satellite antennas, designed to ensure continuous communication during natural disasters, such as earthquakes, when traditional mobile networks may fail.
Production is slated to begin in Istanbul, with plans to transition from R&D to full-scale consumer electronics manufacturing. The devices will feature domestically developed software and aim for long-term integration of a local operating system. Additionally, the user interface is being designed for compatibility with the digital ecosystem of Togg, Türkiye’s domestic electric vehicle brand. The project's commercial structure is currently being established, and a search for a CEO is underway.
