Turkey Vice President Yılmaz discusses new constitution process
Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has emphasized the necessity of developing a new constitution to meet the requirements of the 21st century. Speaking at an Anadolu Agency editorial event, Yılmaz stated that creating a future-oriented constitutional framework is essential to move past the legal legacy of the September 12 military coup.
Yılmaz noted that the process requires broad social and political consensus rather than being the work of a single party or alliance. He expressed optimism regarding the ability of the Parliament to act collectively on fundamental issues. Additionally, Yılmaz touched upon the ongoing efforts regarding a 'terror-free Turkey,' noting that while progress is being made in the right direction, he declined to provide a specific timeline for the conclusion of these processes.
