Turkey visa requirements may impact Montenegrin medical patients

New reciprocal visa measures announced by Turkey are expected to affect Montenegrin citizens, particularly oncology patients who travel to Turkish clinics for diagnosis and treatment. Approximately 600 insured Montenegrins visit three Turkish clinics annually for conditions that cannot be successfully treated or diagnosed within Montenegro.

Concerns have been raised regarding the potential for administrative delays and additional costs. Advocates, including Rozalina Lulgjuraj from NGO Lantana, have questioned whether expedited procedures will be available for medical travelers and whether visa costs will be covered by the healthcare system or borne by patients. There are fears that the new regime could make essential medical travel a privilege accessible only to those with sufficient financial means.
