Turkey warns Russia may use nuclear weapons if facing existential threat

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has warned that Russia may resort to its "last available option," referring to the potential use of nuclear weapons, if it faces an existential threat.

Speaking in a podcast, Fidan noted that if the war of attrition shifts from the front lines into Russian territory, the Kremlin might feel compelled to act to ensure the country's survival. He described the situation as dangerous, stating, "Everything that people say will not happen, in the end, happens."

Fidan, who has been active in seeking peaceful negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, emphasized that the conflict is expanding both geographically and in terms of its methods and objectives. He called upon the international community to intervene and stop the war.
