Turkey weather alert: Heavy rainfall and yellow warnings issued for 12 provinces

The Turkish General Directorate of Meteorology has issued widespread warnings for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds across much of the country. A yellow alert has been issued for 12 provinces, including Ankara, Antalya, Muğla, Çorum, and Denizli, due to the risk of localized heavy precipitation.

Meteorology expert Abdullah Macit warned citizens to be prepared for potential flash floods, waterlogging, lightning, and disruptions in transportation. Specific regions such as the Inner Aegean, Western and Central Anatolia, and the Black Sea coast are expected to experience significant rainfall. In the Eastern Anatolia region, strong winds reaching speeds of 50-80 km/h are anticipated.

Temperature trends indicate a cooling effect in western and northern regions, with temperatures potentially falling below seasonal norms, while eastern parts may remain above average. In Ankara, despite the severe weather warnings, the Governor's Office has not issued a formal school holiday decree as of the latest reports.
