Turkey Signs Up as Founding Member of Canada’s Defence Security and Resilience Bank

Turkey’s defence ministry has moved from an evaluation phase to confirming participation as a founding member of the Defence Security and Resilience Bank (DSRB) announced by Canada. The decision was communicated to Canada after discussions at the NATO summit in Ankara, where Prime Minister Mark Carney presented the bank as a multilateral effort to fund defence projects.

The DSRB aims to raise up to £100 billion ($134 billion) of low‑cost financing for allied nations. Nine countries – Canada, Turkey, Albania, Belgium, Greece, Latvia, Luxembourg, Romania and Ukraine – have pledged support, with the bank to be headquartered in Canada.

The initiative is intended to bolster security cooperation and defence industrial capacity among middle‑power allies amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
