Turkey winter tire mandate for commercial vehicles expected to start November 15

The mandatory winter tire regulation for the 2026-2027 season is expected to run from November 15, 2026, to April 15, 2027. This regulation, overseen by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, primarily targets commercial vehicles involved in intercity freight and passenger transport.

Specific requirements include winter tires on all tires of the driven axles for trucks, tractors, tankers, and buses. For vans and minibuses, all tires must meet winter tire standards. While there is no general nationwide mandate for private passenger cars, drivers are encouraged to take precautions, and local authorities may implement specific regional requirements based on weather conditions.

Winter tires are essential for maintaining road grip in temperatures below 7 degrees Celsius, providing better performance on cold, wet, or snowy roads compared to summer tires.
