Turkey women's groups protest judicial package and hold media panel

The Antalya Women’s Platform organised a press conference in Konyaaltı Varyant to denounce the 12th Judicial Package, warning that its provisions could erode rights for women, children and LGBT+ individuals. Speakers highlighted concerns over alimony limits, punitive approaches to juvenile offenders and vague criminal provisions that could target LGBT+ people, calling for the package’s withdrawal.

In Bursa, the IHH Human Rights and Freedoms Foundation hosted a "Media and Women Panel" at the Merinos Atatürk Congress Center. AK Party MPs Emel Gözükara Durmaz and Emine Yavuz Gözgeç stressed the media’s powerful role in shaping societal views of women and urged more balanced representation that showcases women as producers, leaders and role models rather than mere subjects of sensational coverage.
