Turkey women's volleyball team kicks off second week of VNL matches in Ankara
The Turkey women's national volleyball team, nicknamed Filenin Sultanları, began the second week of the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Nations League (VNL) with matches broadcast on a giant screen at Atapark in Ankara. The schedule runs from 17 to 21 June, featuring games against Belgium (17 June), France (18 June), Germany (20 June) and China (21 June). The team will continue to the third week in Japan before the finals in Macau later July.
Ahead of the second‑week fixtures, star outside hitter Melissa Vargas returned to the squad after missing the first stage, and spoke positively about the younger players. Team captain Elif Şahin discussed her recovery from injury, praised the team's recent performances and revealed that the players listen to Turkish arabesk music, notably Ahmet Kaya, while training.
