Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) faces scrutiny over Ministry of Education protocol and political influence

Education Minister Yusuf Tekin told parliament that the protocol with the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) does not transfer any authority to the NGO and that no budgetary funds have been allocated to it for the 2025‑2026 period. He said that if the parties fail to comply with the protocol’s terms, the agreement can be cancelled and administrative action taken.

TÜGVA’s summer schools attracted more than 700,000 participants this year, underscoring the organization’s size. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a lengthy speech at the TÜGVA Summer Schools Final, praising the youth movement and linking it to historic Turkish figures. Analysts note that TÜGVA is a key AK Party‑aligned youth organization and that its prominence is being highlighted ahead of upcoming elections.
