Turkey: Zafer Party criticizes economic inequality and financial investigations
Zafer Party Vice President Zekeriya Mete has criticized the growing gap between the economic struggles of ordinary citizens and large-scale financial investigations in Turkey. Mete noted that while workers and small business owners struggle with rising costs and the difficulty of living on a single minimum wage, public attention is focused on allegations of manipulation within the capital markets.
Mete specifically referenced an ongoing investigation involving several individuals, including former Central Bank Deputy Governor Erkan Kilimci. He argued that such massive financial movements undermine the public sense of justice, especially when citizens are forced to manage strict household budgets.
Additionally, Mete addressed concerns regarding institutional trust, citing the detention of seven suspects, including MHK President Ferhat Gündoğdu, in the ‘Referees File’ investigation involving allegations of forgery and official misconduct. He emphasized that stability in the economy, predictability in business, and justice in sports are essential requirements for a functioning society.
