Turkey‑Azerbaijan launches direct Baku‑Kars air service
The first direct flight linking Baku, Azerbaijan and Kars, Turkey took off on 30 July 2026, marking the inauguration of a new air corridor between the two neighbouring nations. The service, operated from Baku Haydar Aliyev International Airport to Kars Harakani Airport, was attended by Kars Mayor Ötüken Sergen and Kadir Bozan, chairman of the Kars Trade and Industry Chamber.
Officials highlighted the route’s potential to boost trade, tourism and educational exchange, noting that it provides a quicker connection for visitors and students. The chamber expects the flight frequency to increase beyond the initial twice‑weekly schedule, further strengthening economic ties and positioning Kars as a regional transport hub.
