Turkey's AFAD conducts disaster awareness training for road and municipal security staff

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) provided disaster awareness training to two groups of Turkish officials. In Bayburt, AFAD instructors taught personnel of the Highway 106 Branch on emergency response, fire safety, earthquake behavior, evacuation procedures, and the use of assembly areas. The program combined theory with practical drills to enhance individual readiness and institutional capacity.

Separately, AFAD delivered a coordinated‑response and incident‑management course to staff of the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Police (Zabıta). The training covered inter‑agency coordination, large‑scale accident site management, communication protocols, and safety measures during disasters. Both sessions aimed to strengthen preparedness and improve coordinated action among public safety agencies.
