Turkey's agricultural input price index climbs 0.44% in May
Turkey's statistical agency (TÜİK) reported that the Agricultural Input Price Index (Tarım‑GFE) increased by 0.44 % month‑on‑month in May. Over the year, the index rose 36.65 % and was 18.01 % higher than in December of the previous year, while the 12‑month average showed a 34.20 % gain.
Among the main components, the index for goods and services used in agriculture rose 0.35 % and the index for items contributing to agricultural investment rose 1.04 % compared with the previous month. Year‑on‑year, these sub‑indexes grew 39.29 % and 21.52 % respectively.
The fastest annual growth was recorded for fertilizers and soil improvers (+63.56 %) and for energy and lubricants (+40.75 %). The lowest annual increases were seen in materials (+20.51 %) and agricultural chemicals (+22.72 %). On a monthly basis, energy and lubricants fell 4.39 %, while veterinary expenses showed the smallest rise at 0.18 %. The strongest monthly gains were in machine maintenance (+3 %) and building maintenance (+2.22 %).
