Turkey's agriculture ministry uncovers food safety fraud in meat and dairy producers

In Konya, inspections by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry found that two popular etliekmek establishments were using poultry meat and off‑al in the traditional meat‑filled flatbread, violating product standards. The Aladağ Etliekmek Salon in Karatay and the Gürkan Pide Salonu in Akşehir were publicly identified after sampling revealed the adulterations.

Separately, the ministry cancelled the health certificates of 24 dairy farms in Bursa and surrounding Marmara provinces after they were classified as "ari" (infected with brucellosis or tuberculosis). The move sparked calls from the Anahtar Party for transparent communication about the safety of milk supplies, the reasons for the cancellations, and the traceability of affected products.

Both incidents highlight intensified oversight of Turkey's food‑production sectors and concerns over consumer health and market integrity.
