Turkish Embassy denies Hakan Fidan secret meeting allegations in Baku
The Turkish Embassy in Baku has issued a formal denial regarding allegations that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan conducted secret meetings and issued instructions to influence internal affairs during his recent visit to Azerbaijan.
The controversy began when the news outlet Qafqazinfo published a report claiming Fidan held clandestine meetings with members of the Youth Support Fund (GYF) to orchestrate intelligence operations, coup plans, and the training of influence agents. The report also alleged that Turkish organizations like TIKA and IHH were being used for such purposes. The article was subsequently removed from the outlet's website.
The Turkish Embassy characterized the report as “entirely baseless slanders” and a “disinformation effort” intended to damage the relationship between Turkey and Azerbaijan. Officials clarified that Fidan’s interactions were merely courtesy photo opportunities with members of legally recognized organizations. The Embassy further stated that no letter addressed to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, as claimed by the report, exists.
