11 suspects arrested in Batman murder case of Mehmet Şirin Çelik

Turkish authorities announced that the 2021 murder of Mehmet Şirin Çelik in Batman has been fully resolved. After a coordinated review by the Directorate for Unsolved Crimes and the Batman Public Prosecutor’s Office, joint gendarmerie operations were launched simultaneously in Batman and Van. The raids resulted in the detention of eleven suspects.

Investigators concluded that the killing was a pre‑planned act stemming from a long‑standing feud between two families. The suspects had devised elaborate schemes to mislead police and to create the impression that they were not present at the crime scene, but the operations uncovered and dismantled those plans. Officials emphasized that no homicide will remain hidden and that perpetrators will face justice.
