Turkey's Bayraktar Kızılelma UAV hits target over 120 km with supersonic JET‑230 missile
Turkey’s first indigenous combat UAV, the Bayraktar Kızılelma, successfully completed its first air‑to‑ground supersonic missile test on 11 July 2026. After arrival at the 5th Main Jet Base in Merzifon from the Akıncı Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu, the serial‑production S2 aircraft carried two Roketsan‑developed JET‑230 missiles under its wings. From a sea‑borne target, the UAV fired the missiles at a range exceeding 120 km, achieving a direct hit. Baykar chairman Selçuk Bayraktar posted on social media, “Bir kilometre taşı daha tamamlandı,” congratulating the test team. The trial confirms the Kızılelma’s capability to employ supersonic air‑to‑ground munitions, adding to earlier successful integrations of GÖKDOĞAN, TOLUN, TEBER‑82 and LGK‑82 weapons. The achievement marks a significant step in Turkey’s effort to field fully indigenous, high‑performance unmanned combat platforms.
