Turkey's Black Sea Highlands Bloom with Yellow Flowers, Boosting Tourism

Kadıralak Yaylası in Trabzon’s Tonya district, about 9 km from the town centre and situated at 1,300 m altitude, has been covered in bright yellow mountain‑wedding flowers as temperatures rise. The spectacular display has attracted both domestic and foreign visitors for hiking, photography and picnics, especially on weekends.

Altınpınar Yaylası in Gümüşhane’s Torul district, at 1,950 m, shows a similar carpet of yellow flowers for roughly 20‑30 days in June. The highland’s stone‑wood architecture, icy springs and live music from kaval and tulum players highlight a cultural tradition that locals say stretches back over 300 years. Resident Yavuz Bilgin noted, "Yayladaki açan bu sarı çiçeklere biz yayla çiçeği deriz," emphasizing the brief but vivid bloom.

Both plateaus are part of the Black Sea region’s seasonal tourism surge, with the fleeting floral spectacle providing a boost to local economies and reinforcing the area’s natural and cultural heritage.
