Tourists in Bodrum have been targeted by fraudulent reservation schemes that imitate legitimate hotel and villa websites. Scammers request deposits or full payments to bank accounts, then cease communication, leaving visitors unable to locate the booked property. Local hotel operators warned travelers to verify official sites, avoid unlicensed agents, and use direct contact with establishments.

In the nearby resort of Alaçatı, visitors reported extreme price inflation for everyday items and services. A social‑media video highlighted a sandwich costing 670 TL, ice‑cream at 500 TL, and taxi fares far exceeding the posted 66 TL per kilometre, with some trips charging over 1,200 TL. Beach clubs imposed a 3,000 TL spending limit that covered only basic items. The complainant urged prospective tourists to reconsider visits due to the high costs compared with other Turkish resorts such as Antalya and Bodrum.
