Turkey's SPK approves Net Global IPO and implements new identity rules

The Capital Markets Board of Turkey (SPK) has approved the initial public offering (IPO) of Net Global Endüstriyel Yatırımlar A.Ş. The company plans to increase its capital from 250 million TL to 312.5 million TL through a capital increase and a sale of shares by existing partners. The offering price is set at 25.52 TL per share, with a total size of approximately 2.233 billion TL. Proceeds are intended for capacity increases, solar power plant installation, wagon factory construction, and debt reduction.

Simultaneously, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (TCMB) has implemented new regulations regarding remote identity verification for payment and electronic money institutions. The new rules mandate the use of biometric methods and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to verify identity documents. For non-Turkish citizens, remote identification requires an ICAO 9303 standard passport with NFC capabilities.

To mitigate risks, foreign customers must verify their addresses using residency documents or utility bills from the last three months. Financial restrictions apply to these users; funds can only be transferred to or from bank accounts held in the customer's own name abroad via the SWIFT system. These individuals will be categorized as high-risk, with their transactions reported to the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK).
