Turkey pushes 'Terörsüz Türkiye' plan with new law and library projects

The government advanced the "Terörsüz Türkiye" (Terror‑Free Turkey) agenda by presenting the 12‑article "Milli Dayanışma ve Toplumsal Bütünleşmenin Güçlendirilmesine Dair Kanun Teklifi" to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli at the presidential palace to discuss the proposal, which aims to end the PKK conflict and strengthen national unity.

The Presidency’s Communication Directorate released a video campaign emphasizing that Turkey has spent roughly $2.3 trillion on counter‑terrorism over the past 40 years, a sum that could fund extensive infrastructure such as solar‑power plants, bridges, highways, airports and thousands of hospitals. The campaign linked the "Terörsüz Türkiye" goal to economic growth, social cohesion and regional stability.

Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy highlighted the initiative during a visit to Şırnak, where he inaugurated the new Şırnak İl Halk Kütüphanesi. The 8,390 m² facility accommodates 1,475 users and holds about 62,000 books. Ersoy noted that, over the last eight years, Turkey’s public‑library network has expanded to more than 1,300 branches, with total floor space rising from 320,000 m² to 900,000 m², membership growing from 2.8 million to 7.2 million, and annual users increasing from 28 million to 39.2 million.

The Ministry of National Defence also framed the "Terörsüz Türkiye" vision as a strategic security objective, citing recent anti‑terror operations and increased border controls. Together, the law proposal, the communication campaign, and the cultural‑infrastructure projects illustrate the government’s multi‑sector push to eliminate terrorism’s security and economic impact.
