Turkey's Defence Ministry adds TAYFUN missile system and SOM‑B1T rockets to armed forces inventory

The Turkish Ministry of Defence announced that the Land Forces have completed acceptance of the TAYFUN launch, transport‑loading and command‑control vehicles, Karinalı boats and the MPT‑76 rifle, while the Air Force has received the HGK‑84, LGK‑82/84 and SOM‑B1T munitions. The briefing was given by Ministry spokesperson Tuğamiral Zeki Aktürk at the weekly press meeting.

TAYFUN, developed by Roketsan, is Turkey’s longest‑range ballistic missile with a range of over 500 km, a length of about 6.5 m and a launch weight of 2 300 kg. SOM‑B1T is a locally‑produced version of the SOM‑B1 cruise missile, now integrated into the Air Force inventory. The deliveries mark the continued effort to equip the Turkish Armed Forces with domestically produced, high‑technology weapons.
