Turkey's DEM Party seeks legal reforms for Öcalan as AK Party holds parliamentary talks

The DEM Party submitted a package of proposals calling for Abdullah Öcalan's unrestricted communication and work facilities, the opening of border gates in Mardin, Kars and other regions, the release of political prisoners such as Figen Yüksekdağ and Selahattin Demirtaş, and the restoration of elected officials. The party also demanded the implementation of AYM and ECtHR judgments, an end to police violence, and the protection of the “Right of Hope.”

In a related parliamentary session, a delegation from the ruling AK Party, including Group Leader Abdullah Güler, Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala and Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, met with DEM Party representatives in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The discussion focused on steps toward a “terror‑free Turkey” and exchanged views on the draft “Framework Law” that the DEM Party had highlighted.
