Cevdet Yılmaz on July 2026 pension and civil‑servant salary hikes

Turkey’s Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz said that the July 2026 increase in civil‑servant and pensioner salaries will be automatically adjusted according to the inflation data released by TÜİK on 3 July. The raise will combine the six‑month inflation difference with a 7 % collective‑bargaining component, producing a total uplift of roughly 13‑16 % for most retirees and public employees. The minimum pension, set at 20 000 TL, will not rise automatically; Yılmaz confirmed that a separate law must be passed by the Grand National Assembly, with estimates suggesting it could reach about 23‑24 000 TL. Experts cite scenarios ranging from a 1.36 % June inflation forecast (total rise ≈13.9 %) to a 2.05 % outcome (total rise ≈14.7 % for civil servants and ≈19 % for retirees). No extra “refah pay” is expected. Yılmaz emphasized the government’s principle of protecting purchasing power and reiterated that the low‑pension adjustment is a parliamentary matter.
