Turkey's Diyanet Highlights Islamic Civilization in Friday Sermons

Turkey's Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) announced that the Friday sermon (hutbe) to be delivered in mosques nationwide on 24 July 2026 will focus on the theme “Islamic Civilization”. The address stresses that Islam’s civilizational legacy encompasses both scientific and architectural contributions and core moral values such as justice, compassion, honesty and social solidarity.

The sermon urges believers to act as stewards of the earth, improving its habitability through education, sincere work and charitable deeds. It also commemorates the anniversary of Hagia Sophia’s reopening as a mosque, highlighting the monument’s historic and symbolic importance for the Turkish Muslim community.
