Turkey denies rumors of abolishing paid military training
The Presidency's Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has issued a clarification regarding rumors circulating on social media about the paid military service (bedelli askerlik) system in Turkey. The claims suggested that the mandatory 28-day basic military training requirement would be abolished, allowing individuals to complete their service solely by paying a fee without entering barracks.
The DMM stated that these claims are false and that no such decision has been made. Current legal regulations under the Military Recruitment Law remain in effect, meaning the one-month basic training remains a mandatory component of the paid service.
Additionally, for the period of July 1 to December 31, 2026, the paid military service fee is set at 472,653.60 TL, which must be paid in a single lump sum as there are no installment options available.
