Turkey's DOA system collects 205 million beverage containers

Turkey's Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has announced that the Deposit Return System (DOA) has collected over 205 million beverage containers between July 1 and September 5, 2026. The system, coordinated by the Turkish Environmental Agency (TÜÇA), targets PET, aluminum, and glass packaging to support the national Zero Waste Movement.

As of the reporting period, the system has registered over 3.2 million users. Citizens receive a 1 TL incentive per container returned through DOA machines. Antalya led the country in collection with over 46 million units, followed by Istanbul, Izmir, Adana, and Ankara.

The initiative aims to collect 25 billion containers annually, which is projected to contribute 30 billion TL to the Turkish economy by providing raw materials through recycling and preventing plastic pollution.
