Turkey's Education Minister Launches AI-Powered Learning Apps

Education Minister Yusuf Tekin attended the "Prophet-Themed AI and Digital Content Development Project Grand Award Ceremony" at Çamlıca Mosque in Istanbul, marking the 1500th anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth. In his speech he recalled past restrictions on religious practice in schools and highlighted the ministry’s efforts since 2002 to remove such obstacles.

Tekin announced several AI‑enabled initiatives under the "Turkey's Century of Education" model, including the MEBI platform for schools and universities, the DİLİM app for foreign‑language and Turkish learning, an AI‑driven decision‑making system for the ministry, and a digital wellbeing application. These tools are presented as part of a broader curriculum restructuring that groups religious, cultural, and academic subjects into distinct categories, aiming to foster “good people” through technology‑assisted education.
