Turkey's Education Minister Yusuf Tekin announces new Alevi‑Bektashi curriculum modules and school infrastructure boost

Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin opened the Davut Sulari Halk Education Centre in Çayırlı, Erzincan, emphasizing its role in promoting national unity and cultural heritage. He announced that the Ministry has approved twelve new educational modules for Alevi‑Bektashi learners – eight modules for people aged 13 and above and four modules for those under 13 – covering theology, history, literature, music and other subjects, and stated the content is ready for implementation.

Tekin also reported that the 2025‑2026 school year saw the use of 750,000 classrooms nationwide, up from roughly 350,000 in 2002, highlighting the government's focus on expanding educational infrastructure. He linked these developments to the broader “Turkey Century Education Model,” which includes "school‑outside learning environments" that teach students about local geography, culture and history.

The minister framed the initiatives as part of efforts to strengthen social cohesion, protect cultural diversity and improve the quality of education across Turkey.
